1. Who we are
HD Electrical is an electrical contractor carrying out domestic and commercial electrical work: rewires, consumer unit (fuse board) upgrades, sockets and lighting, fault finding, electrical testing and inspection reports, and emergency call-outs. We are the controller of the personal information described here, which means we decide what is collected and why.
HD Electrical is a trading name of Harry Daler.
Contact us about anything on this page by email at hd.electrical@hotmail.com or by phone on 07498 924860.
We do not use CCTV, and we do not have dashcams or trackers in our vehicles.
2. What we collect, and why
| What | Why we need it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| From the enquiry form: your name, phone number and email address (you need to give at least one of the two), what you need doing, and any notes you add | To reply to you and to give you a quote | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| From a phone call or a text: your number, and whatever you tell us, including where the problem is | To work out what you need and to get to you | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Details of the job once it is booked or done: the address we worked at, what we did, the test results and certificates we issued, and what you paid | To carry out the work, to keep the accounts, to issue the certificates the work calls for, and to deal with any problem with the work afterwards | Performance of our contract with you, and legal obligation for the accounts and for certificates |
| Technical data when you visit this website: your IP address and the pages requested, which our hosting servers log briefly | To keep the site working, find faults and block abuse | Our legitimate interest in running a secure website |
An address where we have worked is personal information when it can be linked to you. We do not ask for special category data such as health information, and there is no reason to send it to us. Please do not include it in an enquiry. We do not record phone calls.
The photographs and the two short clips on the Recent work page show finished jobs we have done in customers' homes. They are chosen to show the electrical work, not the people or the house, and none shows a registration plate. If you think one shows you or your home and you would like it taken down, tell us and we will remove it.
3. The form and the tools on this site
The enquiry form
When you submit the form on our contact page, the details are sent as an email to our inbox. They are not kept on this website, there is no customer database behind it, and nothing is used to build a profile of you or to advertise to you. The form remembers nothing once it is sent. The email passes through delivery services on the way, which section 6 names. If you are filling the form in for someone else, please pass this notice on to them.
The video clips
The two short clips on the Recent work page are held on this website, not on a video platform. Nothing is downloaded until you press play.
Links to our social profiles
The Facebook and Instagram icons in the footer and the "See this job on Instagram" links are ordinary links. Nothing loads from those companies until you click one, and once you are on their sites their own privacy notices apply, not ours.
4. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not turn into work, including texts and the call log: 12 months, then deleted.
- Records of jobs we have done, including what we did, the test results and certificates we issued, and what you paid: 7 years after the work. That covers the accounting rules and the period in which a claim about the work could still be brought.
- Accounting records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, which is fixed by law.
- Technical logs from the website: kept only briefly by our hosting provider.
These periods are a commitment, not an estimate.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone for marketing. We share them only where the work or the law requires it:
- Our electrical scheme provider and your local Building Control, where work has to be notified under the Building Regulations. They need the address and a description of the work.
- Electrical wholesalers, where we order materials for your job. They need to know what is being ordered, not who it is for.
- Our payment provider, if you pay by card or through a payment app.
- Our accountant or bookkeeper, for the accounts and tax.
- The service providers in section 6, who handle the website and the email on our behalf and act only on our instructions.
- Anyone we are legally required to give it to, such as HMRC or the police.
6. The services that handle it for us
| Who | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Sandbanks Digital | Build and run this website, the enquiry form and the visitor counts. They can see an enquiry in transit while supporting the site | United Kingdom |
| Resend | Delivers the enquiry form to our inbox as an email | United States, under contract terms requiring UK-standard protection |
| Railway | Hosts the website. Its servers keep short-lived technical logs of requests, including IP addresses | Servers in the Netherlands. Railway is a US company, so transfers are covered by contract terms requiring UK-standard protection |
| Cloudflare | Looks after the website's domain name and passes each visit through to our host, so it sees the IP address and the request on the way | Worldwide network, under contract terms requiring UK-standard protection |
| Microsoft | Hosts the Hotmail inbox the enquiries arrive in | Worldwide, including the United States, under contract terms requiring UK-standard protection |
7. Information handled outside the UK
Some of the services above are based in, or run from, the United States. Our contract with each of them requires that your information is protected to the standard UK law expects, wherever it is handled. If you would like to know how that works for a particular one, ask us at hd.electrical@hotmail.com and we will tell you.
8. Marketing
We do not send marketing emails, newsletters or texts, and we do not add enquiries to a mailing list. If you get in touch, we reply about your enquiry and nothing else.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete what we hold, where we do not need to keep it
- restrict what we do with it, or object to us using it, including for the visitor counts described in our cookies and storage policy
- send a copy to you or to someone else in a portable format
Email hd.electrical@hotmail.com or call 07498 924860. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
10. If you are unhappy
Please tell us first. Email hd.electrical@hotmail.com and we will look into it and come back to you within 30 days. Since 19 June 2026 you are expected to raise a complaint with the organisation before taking it further, and we would rather put something right than hear about it second hand.
If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
11. Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their details. Work is contracted with the adult who owns or is responsible for the property.
12. Keeping it safe
This website is served over an encrypted connection, and enquiries go to a password protected email inbox. Texts and the call log stay on our phone.
13. Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top. This notice was last updated on 2 November 2026.
