1. There are no cookies
This site sets no cookies, of any kind, including its own. It also writes nothing to your browser's local storage or session storage. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising tag, no social media plug-in, no embedded map and no video hosted by anyone else. The fonts, the photographs and the two short clips on the Recent work page are served from this site itself.
That is why you were not asked to accept anything when you arrived. A cookie banner exists to get your permission for cookies that are not strictly necessary, and there are none here to permit. Adding a banner anyway would ask you to consent to nothing.
You can check this for yourself. In most browsers, open the developer tools, go to the storage or application tab, and look at the cookies for this site. The list is empty.
2. How we count visitors
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that runs on Sandbanks Digital's own servers in the EU rather than on an advertising company's platform. It sets no cookies, it stores nothing on your device and it does not follow you from site to site.
It records the page you looked at, the page that sent you here, your country, whether you were on a phone or a computer, your screen size and your browser's language. Your country is worked out from your IP address, which is not stored. To tell repeat visits apart it uses a code made from your IP address and browser details, and that code changes every calendar month, so it cannot follow you for longer than that. It keeps the full address of each page, including anything after a question mark, so a link that carries an advertising tracking code is recorded with it. Nothing is shared with an advertising network.
Because nothing is stored on your device, the UK's cookie rules do not require your consent for simple counting like this, but we tell you about it anyway. If you would rather not be counted, email hd.electrical@hotmail.com and we will see what can be done, or use a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts: nothing on this site depends on it.
3. Server logs
Like every website, ours runs on a server that keeps a short technical log of the requests it receives. That log includes IP addresses. It is not a cookie and it is not used to track you. It exists so that faults can be diagnosed and abuse can be blocked, and it is kept only briefly by our hosting provider.
4. The form and the video clips
The enquiry form on our contact page stores nothing on your device. It does not remember what you typed and it does not save a draft. The two clips on the Recent work page are loaded only when you press play, and they keep nothing on your device. Our privacy notice covers what happens to an enquiry after you send it.
5. Links to other sites
Links to other sites, including the Facebook and Instagram links and the Sandbanks Digital credit in the footer, are ordinary links and nothing loads from them until you click. Once you are on their site, their own cookie rules apply, not ours.
6. Controlling storage yourself
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data for any site, including this one, under its privacy or site settings. Nothing here depends on storage, so blocking it will not break the site.
7. Changes to this policy
If we ever add something that does set a cookie, we will update this page first and put a consent mechanism in place before it loads. We will not quietly change the answer.
